Eat Beans Day is Essential for Eye Health
Not only is eating beans good for your health, it’s good for your eye health as well. So on National Eat Beans Day, try to incorporate some kidney or Lima beans into your diet.
Make Homemade Dishes on Eat Beans Day
Do you love a good green bean salad? How about a hot pot of chili with kidney beans? Throwing these beans into a dish are great for eye health. The American Academy of Ophthalmology states that, “any kind of legume contains loads of zinc. Studies have shown that zinc may also protect the eyes from UV rays.”
Add Beans to Your Dinner
- Firstly, cold-water fish are packed with Omega 3 fats. When making dinner, cook some fish and use beans as a side dish.
- Secondly, if you don’t like fish, then snack on some nuts and seeds. Some of the nuts and seeds with the highest Omega 3’s are flax, chia, walnuts and pumpkin.
- Thirdly, green foods are amazing for your eyes. Throw some beans in your spinach or kale salad. Eat some guacamole and carrots for lunch instead of takeout. Help yourself to green peas at dinner time and watch the health benefits fly!
- Finally, pack some citrus fruits for lunch. Vitamin C helps reduce the risk of cataracts.
