Prevent Work-Related Eyestrain

Are you the kind of person that stares at the computer for hours while you are at work? Laptops, computers, tablets and smartphones have LEDs that emit blue light which can cause eye discomfort or even retinal damage. This can lead to symptoms such as blurred vision, headaches and eye fatigue. There are some ways to protect your vision while you are at work:

  1. Keep the computer at least 30 inches away from your eyes.
  2. Remember the 20-20-20 rule. Every 20 minutes stare at something that is 20 inches away for 20 seconds.
  3. Remember to blink – Some activities like reading or staring at the computer screen make us blink a lot less. Blinking is vital for the support of your vision and health of your eyes.
  4. Visit your eye doctor for a comprehensive eye exam.
